Check this out – it’s an open letter to Julia Gillard, asking that Julian Assange be treated fairly ie – not that he is right or wrong, but that he get a fair go -it is in response to an increase in violent sentiments, some of which are quoted in the letter (click link below)…

“We wrote the letter below because we believe that Julian Assange is entitled to all the protections enshrined in the rule of law – and that the Australian Government has an obligation to ensure he receives them.”

It’s signed by heaps of academics and lawyers and authors and stuff (including Noam Chomsky, who sounds famous and important for some reason).
